The Mini Miranda Warning
Each time a debt collector contacts you, he/she
must inform you that they are a debt collector and must read you a Mini Miranda.
This warning is reminiscent of the warning that the police give you when you are
about to be arrested but has nothing to do with criminal law. The Mini Miranda
must contain the following words or represent their meaning.
"Hello, my
name is (name of collector). I am/or this office is a debt collector
representing (creditor) Information obtained during this communication will be
used for the purpose of debt collection."
Example Mini Miranda
"This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information will be used for that purpose. If you dispute the validity of this debt you have 30 days to notify us of such"
The Mini Miranda warning must also be included in all correspondence received through the mail.
